ON THE COVER . . .

Pictured on the cover is the beautifully restored Waco RNF,
N-110Y, owned by W. Meeks of Kokomo, Ind. The tie-down rope
in the picture does not appear by accident. This cover was
specially selected for the airplane as well as to emphasize
the point that every aircraft owner should carry tie-downs
with him.....especially to our 1964 Rockford EAA Fly-in, where
there will be more airplanes than tie-down ropes.

ON THE COVER......
While "Breezy" leaves something to be desired aerodynamically,
no one can deny that it was one of the most popular aircraft at the 1965
Rockford Convention. Built by a triumvirate of Roloff, Unger and
Liposky at Hometown, Ill., the plane carried the governors of Wisconsin
and Illinois for scenic rides. Pilot was Carl Unger.

Dr. Roy Wicker of 2475 Howell Mill Road N.W., Atlanta, Ga. poses in
front of his immaculate replica Nieuport 24bis, numbered and painted
exactly like Charles Nungesser's famous ship of World War 1. Powerplant
is a 120-hp. LeRhone 9JZ, and when Dr. Wicker flies it, the sweet
smell of castor oil bathes the air. Photo was taken by Dick McGrew
of the Athens, Ala. Courier at the Southeastern Regional Fly-In and
Air Fair at Decatur, Ala. The event was sponsored by EAA Chapters
in the Alabama, Tennessee, and North Carolina areas.

BULUEY SPORT-N6376V. Builders John W. Bulmer and Roscoe V.Huey,
both of Wichita, Kans. Both belong to Jayhawk Chapter 88 and the
construction work took 17 months. Power is supplied by an 85 hp
Continental and the performance includes a 102 cruise and a top of
110. The open cockpit beauty was finished June 13, 1966 and had
logged 70 hours at Fly-In time. The excellent finish is the result
of 14 coats of butyrate and then numerous coats of Dulux.

Dressed in a beautiful paint job the "Pretty Prairie Special" gives the
casual observer the impression of a fine aircraft which is exactly what
Col. Marion Unruh's much modified Knight Twister is. Powered by a
thoroughly reworked Menasco engine the "Special" is an agile performer
in the hands of the retired U. S. Air Force colonel from Pretty Prairie,
Kans.

The Smith Miniplane, N641F, was built by Steve Fenton, of Odessa,
Texas. Plans were were closeely followed except gear was modified to spring
steel. Radio and radio-nav equipment has been installed. Bubble cano-
py was blown and installed by Steve just days before this fly-in.
Frame will be painted by now to blend with the color scheme of the
ship. Steve took two and one-half years and $3,500.00 to get this fine
homebuilt in the air. (Photo by Nolan Morgan, Taft, Texas)

ON THE COVER...The Huffaire,N-1111W, built by Le Roy Huff of Eufalia,
Okla.,is a companion ship to the Eaves "Skeeter" and
Lloyd Pearson's "Sugar Babe." The design was taken
from a charcoal sketch which hangs in Huff's office.
Challenges were thrown back and forth, and the three
airplanes were built. They turned out to be high per-
formance craft with which the builders are well pleased.
However construction drawings are not available.
