I notice my Cessna has a small opening in instrument cover that pours a little hot air onto canopy. Couldn't find anything in the plans. Thanks -al wick Canopy Latch System guy. Even though I live in Arizona, it is sometimes pretty cold where we fly on our trips. It works well, but is part of a deluxe heating system. I am control if the heat goes to the feet, defrost and rear seat. The full system should be in the archives. Nat's cabin heat works just fine. I can't leave it on full blast with OAT of 0°C. I do need to find a way to distribute the in coming air, however. My right leg gets hot while the rest of me is comfortable. At first it only brought cold air forward. The problem was the carb heat door at the intake. It must seal tight to the top of the carb air box or cold ram air goes around it and ends up in the cabin instead of hot air from the exhaust pipe heat exchanger. I don't think the oil cooler up front would provide much heat on a cold day in my airplane. The oil temp runs 170-180° or less when the OAT is less than 10°C. I believe the oil cooler by-pass valve does not open until the oil temp reaches 190°, so how much heat would one get from the cooler with no hot oil going to it? dd Date: Tue, 23 Nov 1999 13:15:07 -0500 From: Paul Krasa Subject: Re: COZY: Cabin heat Eventually, I will install the system shown in Central States last year which uses the VW blower over the oil cooler. This system has the advantage of heat in the winter and ground cooling during the summer. Paul
