While I have no direct experience with them, there are a bunch of PC and Macintosh software applications out there (some of which advertise in the standard aircraft magazines) that will call duats, download the weather applicable to the route you have put in, and present it to you in a reasonable Windows (tm) or Mac interface. Usually, these programs also do flight planning. The Mentor one is the only one that comes to mind. -- Marc J. If Ken could describe what he finds cumbersome about it, we might be able to offer some easy solutions. For example, I have used Procomm with a script that will log me on and grab all of the info I usually need for local type briefings. After it logs me off all I need to do is read the info. Of course, you can customize the selections to meet your particular needs. Also the DUATS vendors have free software to help in accessing the data. (IN) Instructions 5. (NO) Notams 13. (SE) Search for a City or ID 6. (UA) Pireps 14.(PW) Public Weather Menu 7. (WS) Sigmets 8. (WA) Airmets I have played around with most of the selections and they deliver as promised. Everything is kept up to date. William E. Thanks Ken (brimmer@ix.netcom.com) Dear follow pilots; I have started to build a weather page at my site. Right now all I have are links to current NEXRAD weather radar and satellite images of the west coast. I do not intend this to replace DUATs or a real weather briefing, (OBEY THE FARs.) but the information is helpful. I will be adding links to other sources soon. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Craig R. Bowers Weather URL http://www.ptw.com/~craigb/page3.html Home Page URL http://www.ptw.com/~craigb
