Date: Fri, 25 May 2001 09:05:15 -0500 From: David Domeier Subject: COZY: Cozy Wt and Balance Jim, re "I have been concerned about the 400 pound front seat limit on the Cozy MKIV. Can you give me some clarification on the statement above? I could see having 230-250 in the front seat at times." If I may jump in here and answer your question. This is what I carry on a checklist - Cozy MKIV N10CZ CG limit 97.5-102 Max gross weight 2050 pounds (empty wt 1200) With 55 pounds of ballast Max front seat weight is 300 lbs Min front seat weight is 130 lbs With 21 pounds of ballast Max front seat weight is 400 lbs Min front seat weight is 210 lbs With zero ballast Max front seat weight is 450 lbs Min front seat weight is 260 lbs The 21 pounds of ballast is semi permanent at FS 3 just forward of the nose gear bulkheads. I operate with it 98% of the time. I don't think the statement "unlimited front seat weight with 1145 empty weight" is possible in this airplane or any other machine. Perhaps Al will clarify it. dd From ???@??? Technically, I don't have unlimited front seat weight. But for all practical purposes I do. There is no way a 330 lb person could fit in the seat...... But if they could I could carry them. Front end of plane is very light. I have extra weight rear of cg. Yet my overall aircraft weight is between normal and light. "I planned it this way" is sorta true, but I just lucked out with some of my decisions. -al wick Artificial intelligence in cockpit, Cozy IV powered by stock Subaru 2.5 N9032U now flying. 42 hours on engine/airframe ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
